Happy Birthday Pam

It was my friend Pam's birthday on Monday which also was our monthly get together at Helen's to make things. So we got to sing her happy birthday,  eat birthday cake with her and watch her open all the lovely cards she received. A great day was had by all. Below is the card I made her which isn't exactly her colours but luckily she loved it. This year everyone is getting Flip out cards, I generally stick to one type of card and tailor it to them. She loves Tim Holtz so I grabbed a book of papers and went from there.

I used papers from the Crowded Attic paper stash and cut out the biggest moth. I lightly inked with Old Paper Distress Ink and dusted with Perfect Pearls to give a sheen. I then traced the moth onto another paper from the stash a brown this time and cut it out and ran it through the Cuttlebug in an embossing folder. Unfortunately my attempts to photograph this layering on the card didn't work. In the open picture you can see the different layers. I layered the pieces together using foam tape to get dimension. I will do a step by step tutorial on making this Flip Out Card next week. They are reasonably easy and lots of fun to make.
The paper on the front panel are from the sheet of ink pad images, very appropriate for a stamper and the inside paper is a 6" x 6" piece with perfume and chocolate ads on it. All were edged with Old Paper DI and I made up a mixture of re-inker and Perfect Pearls and used that to colour Tim Holtz's Trimmings flower strip. I did alternate flowers and used a Walnut Stain mix to the the other flowers. After they were dried with a little help from my heat tool, I mean who can wait for them to dry naturally, I added green adhesive pearls to the centres and adhered them to the card. I added some white paint to the WISH word stick to bring out the letters and put a long fasteners through the top. Two butterflies from the Crowded Attic Salvage Stickers finished off the card. And the cardstock was from the Ranger Coordination cardstock pad, so almost Tim from top to toe.

I'm Excited

So very excited, Peter has brought tickets to the Meatloaf concert in October for my birthday. He wouldn't go to Melbourne for the concert which was on 14th, day before my birthday so we are going to Wollongong for 4th Oct. That means my birthday gets spread out for two weeks, yeah!!!

The tickets arrived yesterday so I had to take a photos as you can see and then we had to put them somewhere safe so I don't lose them. No telling so no one can steal them LOL.

This year it's the big 50 and we were planning a big cocktail party but that has been scaled down now after we paid for the tickets. I mean if I am seeing Meatloaf it is as a VIP you know.

I have been finishing up some canvases I made when I held the Serviette Workshop. So all these 6" x 6" canvas start blank and then have a serviette adhered to them. "We Remember" started with a poppy serviette which as soon as it dried I had to make it into an Anzac memorial. The words are the first verse from the poem In Flanders Field by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae MD which was printed out, cut to the size of the Basic Grey book plate and coloured with Distress Inks. I had stuck another part of the serviette to plain card stock so I cut the a poppy from that and shaped it to paper tole on the canvas. I added a slouch hat we had brought last Anzac Day. It was finished with black ribbon around the sides. I have sold this to a friend who is giving to her local RSL club for display which makes me feel proud that other people see it as I do.

The next canvas was decorated with some shells in the corner (not collected from the beach but brought in a store) adhered with Claudine Hellmuth's  Studio Multi Medium from Ranger. I am seriously in love with this product, adheres almost everything and is so easy to work with. Wait till I show you the flowers I made using it. I then spend some time applying Glossy Accents to the dolphins. I applied several layers building up the dimensions to echo the sunlight on them. You can get top see some of it, very hard to photo shining things.
The last one I have to show you hasn't got a name yet, my friend Kaylene suggested  calling it Bella as she is a fan of the Twilight series. Let me know what you think.

 It is a bit hard to see the image due to the flash, I will have to set a little photo booth to take photos I can see.


This was a gorgeous serviette and Fran as soon as she saw said she would like to see with crackles all over so that's what I did. I coated it with Ranger's Rock Candy Crackle paint (what a fabulous product). I didn't get it on as thick as I would have liked, still on a learning curve, so the crackles are on the smallest size. I dyed the braid with Wild Honey re-inker and it turned out splotchy which I liked, that was adhered with Multi Medium and then I added the button, cutting a slit in the canvas and using Multi Medium to hold it there. I finished the sides with black paint that has been rubbed around the front edges. I just to add the hangers and they will be finished. Dolphin Play and untitled will go to the market on Sun and hopefully get sold. I have to find a couple of quotes to finish off the other ones but once I have I will show you.

June's Card Class

Hi folks,
I am back after being gently reminded that it has been a long time.
I thought I would share with you three of the cards I designed for last month's Card Class at Create with Andrea.
The first card is a man's card using the Kaszazz Lucy Classic Car stamp and 2 of the Kaszzaz Ebony and Ivory range of paper. The greeting is from the Mini Messages Un-Cut set which is very handy set for small greetings.

The next card is using the fans from the recently released Kaszazz Asian Lifestyle stamped on individual panels to fit over the scalloped Yuzen paper. A tip if you are border punching Yuzen paper make sure it is a reasonably simple design and either punch 2 layers of Yuzen together or add a layer of copy paper to the Yuzen. Top with some red organdy ribbon with a bow. This time I tied the two ends of the ribbon together and then tied the bow, you just have to remember to leave long enough ends to tie the bow, then I placed it in position and cut the ribbon so I could adhere it under the card front. Guess who tied all the bows in class, I will never teach them to tie bows this way and they seem happy with that. LOL

There are two versions of the next card, I used Design Adhesives in the first class and unfortunately the order didn't arrive in time for the second class so I had to improvise. So in the second version we stamped the circle pattern in both sizes from the Kaszazz Treasured Memories Un-Cut set with Perfect Medium and then embossed which was harder and more time consuming then using the Design Adhesives. Design Adhesives are doubled-sided adhesive designs that you rub on to your card stock and then you can use embossing powder as I did here or you can use glitter, Perfect Pearls, chalks, or foils. With the Embossing Powder here I used three colours to get this effect which is really cool. The colours I used are Top Boss Honey Pearl, Wine and Copper. First I sprinkled very carefully the Honey Pearl where I wanted it, then added sprinkles of Wine and then sprinkled Copper over the remaining areas, I gave the card a sideways shake to make sure it was all covered before tipping all the embossing powder off. I collect this in another jar and I have embossed with it and it gives an aged effect. I will save that for a later post. The pleated paper I learnt from Split Coast Stampers here, it is very easy and looks so effective. To finish off the greeting was embossed in the Wine powder. Thanks to Roni of Ink Stains where I first saw this technique.
